Rick Doninger Finds

Vanderburgh County, Indiana

A classic janiform figure in flint - anthropomorphic face looking right, zoomorphic figure to the left.

Quasi-anthropomorphic face in flint, birdlike crest over forehead.

Bidirectional bird figure.

In addition to the characteristic Figure Stones, Mr. Doninger has retrieved many interesting simple stone tools possibly manufactured using the "old-world" Levallois technique.  Pending systematic excavation yielding stratigraphic context, temporally diagnostic Native American artifacts appearing with these finds seem to indicate an origin generally within the Archaic Period.  All this certainly warrants proper professional investigation, which Rick has been seeking to no avail.
